A Sample of Culture Specific Symbols
Freedom to Lead International® uses cultural-specific images, objects, and sketches that reinforce learning about Christ-centered leadership. Here are two examples of images that are used in our leadership development modules:
Ironsmith
The ironsmith is a common image in many villages and towns in the majority world. As participants interact with the ironsmith’s work of shaping a piece of metal into a usable tool, this image teaches the principles “softening, molding, and resetting” in leading people through times of change.
The Reconciling Father
The biblical story from Luke 15 not only tells about a prodigal son who is reconciled to his father; it is also the story is about the need for reconciliation between two brothers. In our module on Peacemaking, this image is used to highlight the importance of forgiving others as we have been forgiven.
